Prairie Cycle Club (PCC) is a community bike club for cyclists in our area. Like public radio or a community trail system, it exists because people choose to support it. PCC is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization.

At the simplest level, the club makes it easy to find people to ride with. More importantly, it provides the structure that makes open, reliable group riding possible in our area. This includes a consistent schedule, welcoming entry points for new riders, organized events, and the ability to operate publicly with insurance and access to community spaces.

Note: Subscribing to the PCC Google Group email list is a great way to stay informed, but it does not make you an official club member.

What Membership Supports
  • Open, Organized Rides: Your dues support the website, ride schedule, and outreach that make it easy to show up and ride. They also help cover the basic costs of organizing rides, such as rest stops and reserving gathering spaces.
  • Club Insurance: PCC carries insurance that allows us to operate publicly and organize rides and events. It covers the club, its volunteers, and members during organized rides, and includes first-time guests so new riders can try a ride.
  • Advocacy & Community Presence: Your support helps strengthen local cycling through advocacy, partnerships, and safety initiatives. PCC is a member of the League of American Bicyclists, connecting our club to national efforts that support and promote cycling.
  • Club Socials: Membership helps support group gatherings and social events throughout the year. Some events are pay-your-own, but the goal is to bring riders together.

RIDING WITH PCC: Guests are welcome to come out and try a PCC ride. Regular riders are encouraged to become members and support the club.

Membership Terms

Duration: Most memberships expire on December 31st. Late-Season Bonus: If you join or renew on or after August 1st, your membership automatically covers the rest of the current season, plus a free membership for the following season!

Financial Assistance: We believe financial barriers shouldn't keep anyone from riding. If membership dues present a hardship, please email membership@prairiecycleclub.org for a fee waiver.

Student / Fixed Income $15 / year
for students or dues-paying individuals belonging to any of Champaign County Bikes, The Bike Project or WildCard Cycling.
Individual $20 / year
for other individuals.
Household $25 / year
for a household (multiple individuals occupying the same residence).

Prairie Cycle Club uses a Google Groups email list for club announcements, ride updates, impromptu rides, and member discussion.

Not Receiving PCC Email List Messages?

When you join PCC, we attempt to add new members to the email list. Depending on your email address and Google account status, you may receive an invitation or confirmation email from Google Groups. You may need to accept that invitation before you begin receiving messages.

What to Check

  1. Check your inbox for an invitation or confirmation email from Google Groups.
  2. Check your spam or junk folder.
  3. Search your email for: Google Groups, Prairie Cycle Club, or prairie-cycle-club@googlegroups.com.
  4. If you find an invitation, follow the instructions in that email.
