Mara Abbott 1st American to win overall Giro Donne

Mara Abbott riding for the USA Cycling Women's National Development Program, won the overall Giro Donne today in Italy. The 25-year-old soloed to wins in stages 8 and 9 and finished in the main pack in Sunday's final stage 10 to win the raceandrsquo;s general classification. The team exercised its strategy perfectly, defending Abbott's pink leaderandrsquo;s jersey while her fellow USA Cycling and Peanut Butter andamp; Co TWENTY 12 teammate Shelley Evans took the sprint victory in the final stage on Sunday.

Nine titles awarded on penultimate day of Juniors Track Nationals

After inclement weather forced the morning session to be delayed until afternoon, day three of the USA Cycling Juniors Track National Championships was a busy one. Nine national titles were awarded on the penultimate day as riders in the 17-18 age category continued to heat up the track, and the 10-12 and 13-14 groups completed their overall omniums.

Four more national titles were awarded on day two of the USA Cycling Junior Track National Championships in Trexlertown.Coryn Rivera claimed her 30th and 31st junior national titles while John Tomlinson and Matthew Baranoski rode into Stars-and-Stripes jerseys in menandrsquo;s competition. Day one of Junior Track Nationals crowns four champs in T-town

Four national titles were awarded on Thursday as the 2010 USA Cycling Juniors Track National Championships opened at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown, Pa. Coryn Rivera, Lawson Craddock, Benny Swedberg, and Christine Barron all rode into Stars-and-Stripes jerseys on a very hot day that saw temperatures reach 98 degrees.

Pro XCT finale CTS Intl. Classic in Colorado Springs this weekend

The final round of the USA Cycling Pro Cross Country Tour (Pro XCT) is headed to Colorado Springs this weekend. The nationandrsquo;s top professional cross country riders will battle for the Pro XCT title at the Carmichael Training Systems International Classic at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, July 9-11.

Goss wins in Philly, gives HTC-Columbia commanding Pro Tour lead

Matthew Goss won Sunday's third race on the USA Cycling Professional Tour, the TD Bank International Championship in Philadelphia. Even with the win Goss couldn't take the lead from his fellow Australian countryman Michael Rogers who continues to lead the country's only professional-only series after his Tour of California win. Goss did however give his Team HTC-Columbia squad a commanding lead in the team standings heading into the next Pro Tour event, the Tour de New York in August.

DEVELOPMENT WRAP-UP: Three young riders on the podium abroad

USA Cycling's junior development rider, Lawson Craddock, grabbed two stage wins and the overall at the Trofeo Karlsberg. A group of junior women contested a Swiss Racer Bikes Cup event in Switzerland. USA Cycling's U23 mountain bike development program riders competed in the same event in Switzerland while two sets of U23 athletes took to the road. Ben King was third overall at the Coupe de Nations in Canada while Andrew Talansky won a stage and took second overall in the Vuelta Tarragona.

Talansky 2nd overall in Tarragona; Jones wins final stage

After wearing the yellow jersey for three stages, the USA Cyclingandrsquo;s National Development Program's Andrew Talansky finished second overall in Spainandrsquo;s Volta Tarragona. Carter Jones won the final stage in a solo break to add another stage victory in a strong performance by the young Americans.

Kabush, Gould overall leaders after Pro XCT #3

The 2010 USA Cycling Pro Mountain Bike Cross Country Tour (Pro XCT) continued Saturday, May 29, with the Mellow Johnnyandrsquo;s Classic in the extreme heat of Dripping Springs, Texas. Max Plaxton and Georgia Gould picked up wins in the elite men's and women's contests. Gould maintained her lead in the women's overall standings, while Geoff Kabush leapfrogged Todd Wells for the men's lead.

Fly V Australia overtakes men's NRC, Colavita-Baci steps up

The seventh and eigth events on the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar, the Basecamp International and the Tour of Somerville went off last week in New Jersey. Lisbon Quintero took the victory in the men's-only Basecamp while Ben Kersten and Theresa Cliff-Ryan claimed victories in the country's oldest race, the Tour of Somerville. Kersten and his second-place finishing teammate helped re-gain the NRC team lead for their Fly V Australia squad while Cliff-Ryan used her result to bump her Colavita-Baci squad into second place in the women's team standings. DEVELOPMENT WRAP-UP: Craddock third overall at Pays de Vaud

USA Cycling junior rider, Lawson Craddock, won two stages of Switzerland's Pays de Vaud and placed third overall. USA Cycling also fielded a team for the U23 Paris Roubaix which saw Cole House post the strongest result for the team in 34th. USA Cycling National Development Program alum Taylor Phinney won the event for the second year in a row. On the dirt, U23 mountain biker Russell Finsterwald rode to 13th-place in a Swiss Racer Bikes Cup event while competing for USA Cycling's National Development Program squad.

Michael Rogers leads Pro Tour standings after California

After eight days of racing on more than 800 miles of California roads, Australian Michael Rogers grabbed the overall win ahead of Dave Zabriskie and Levi Leipheimer. With 192 points, Rogers also now leads the Pro Tour standings. .

The USA Cycling Professional Mountain Bike Gravity Tour (Pro GRT) continued over the weekend with stop number two at the Plattekill Bike Park in New York on May 23. Andrew Neethling and Tracey Moseley took the wins in the men's and women's time tests. After the second round, Mosely still leads the women's standings while Bryn Atkinson is still on top of the men's.

Jamis-Sutter Home p/b Colavita takes over NRC lead with 1-2 finish

Alejandro Borrajo and Luis Amaran used their 1,2 result in last weekend's Wilmington Grand Prix to help their Jamis-Sutter Home p/b Colavita team take over USA Cycling's National Racing Calendar men's team overall lead from the Fly V Australia squad who has led most of the season. Laura Van Gilder took her third Wilmington Grand Prix victory in front of an estimated 15,000 fans in Wilmington's Market Steet district on Sunday. However, Alison Powers and her Team Vera Bradley Foundation squad retain a stronghold on the women's NRC overall.
